Within the framework of the call for projects “European Federalists for a tolerant, united Europe” launched by the Young European Federalists and the Council of Europe, the “Jeunes Européens Isère” are organizing a week of conferences and debates entitled “Towards a more tolerant Europe?” between the 13th and the 16th of October 2014. During this week, several subjects related to tolerance in Europe will be addressed.

Monday, October 13th 2014, the conference “Living with a handicap in Europe” will address the question of disabilities in Europe with M. Yann Echinard, Professor at Sciences Po Grenoble, and Mrs. Chirstine Garnier, city councilor of Grenoble in charge of accessibility.

Tuesday, October 14th 2014, the conference “The position of Roma in Europe” will address the question of the integration of Roma in Europe with M. Jean-Pierre Dacheux, a philosopher, and the Human Rights League.

Thursday, October 16th 2014, the conference “From Dublin to Lampedusa: the reception of asylum seekers in Europe” will start will the projection of the film “The Dublin’s trap: another side of the Greek crisis” and will be followed by a debate with the director M. Bryan Carter, and Mr. Olivier Tirard-Collet, president of the association “Accueil des Demandeurs d’Asile” (Reception of Asylum Seekers).

The overall purpose of this week is to understand the obstacles to tolerance in Europe and to create a more tolerant and democratic Europe at all levels.
