Former Commissioner Kroes failed to declare directorship of an offshore firm, the so-called "Bahamas leaks" reveal. Commissioners commit to the code of conduct and moreover, aim to give face to European politics. By giving in, be it a 'clerical error' or not, Kroes is damaging the public image of the European Union.
We call on President Juncker but also the Council and the European Parliament, institutions who are all involved in selecting and questioning the Commissioners, to make sure that the next Commissioners will be free from responsibilities within financial/corporate companies during the whole period of their mandates, as cases like Kroes' one severely damage the image of the Commission and of the EU.
#OurEurope has politicians who are committed to European politics and contributing to transparent, inclusive, democratic politics.
