Federal Committee meeting of the Young European Federalists (JEF Europe), March 22 - 24, 2019 in London

Today, the Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) - in cooperation with their national section Young European Movement UK - are gathering in London for the meeting of their main decision-making body, the half-yearly Federal Committee (FC), and to support the People’s Vote March.

In the turmoil of Brexit, more than 100 JEF members from 30 different countries come together in London in support and solidarity to British and European citizens in the UK. JEF Europe has continuously underlined that Brexit was a losing game for both sides from the start and no possible agreement would have put British citizens better-off. Full membership of the European Union remains the best option available.

Christopher Glück, President of JEF Europe, states: “Brexit has always been an ill-conceived and harmful idea, sold to the public in a campaign built on false promises, outright lies and disinformation and fueled on discontent that had little to do with the European Union. Now, it is high time to end the madness before more damage is done. No-deal would be a unique case of pointless self-inflicted harm and must be avoided at all costs. After the House of Commons have ruled out both, a reasonable deal that would have reduced the human and economic costs to a minimum and no deal, it is time to give citizens a final say. In the interest of all EU citizens, we can only hope that at long last reason prevails in what was once a proud country and a role-model in the EU.”

YEM UK, underlines: “It is of great importance for us as a national JEF section to host this FC in London this week. This meeting sends a strong message that Europe is open to having Britain back in the EU, and gives hope to citizens for a positive outcome of this chaos.”
