JEF
encourages new MEPs to work towards a federal Europe
On 14 and 15 July 2009 Young
European Federalists (JEF)
were present in Strasbourg
to welcome MEPs to the first session of the newly elected European Parliament
and to focus their attention on the need for a stronger European Union.
As the only civil society organisation allowed to be
present on the premises of the European Parliament in Strasbourg
on this occasion, 20 JEF
activists distributed an open letter to MEPs reminding them of their duties and
inviting them to participate in the Federalist Intergroup of the European
Parliament.
The annual
Training Days of JEF-Europe
took place between 22 and 26
June 2009 in Dworp, a small town just outside
Brussels.
Twenty participants from 12 European countries went through a 5-days training
on project management, including sessions on how to organise diverse actions,
financial resources and fundraising, public and media relations, how to
effectively use internet technology with campaigning as well as how to get
informed about and implement JEF
policies and how to spread ideas of JEF.
Since 1985 Europe Day is celebrated in all Member
States of the EU on the 9th of May with loads of different events
and activities - and of course JEF sections all over Europe
were active in their own cities as well!
At our Blog you can find more detailed reports on the various activities in the different sections.

We are pleased to invite you to the annual training days of JEF-Europe, taking place in Dworp, Belgium, from 22nd till 26th June 2009 in the framework of our Europe@myDesk project. Arrival is foreseen on Monday the 22nd midday. Departure should be on Friday the 26th after 13.00.
EXTENDED DEADLINE: 31 May 2009
The main aim of the event is to train JEFers on how to organise diverse actions, how to get informed about and implement our policies as well as how to be effective while campaigning and spreading the ideas of JEF. Additionally the event will focus on contributing to the new project Europe@myDeskplanned by JEF-Europe andpreparing innovative events to take place within this framework.
The training days offer the participants a great opportunity to acquire the basic tools to run projects in their local and national sections. Focusing on our future campaign and the question of how to communicate Europe and federalism, the participants will work together to create appealing and feasible projects - Europe@myDesk will be used as an example.
‘Can you hear me Europe?' was a pan-European action launched by the European Union and MTV for the 2009 European Parliament elections. The basic idea was really simple: thousands of people all over Europe were shouting to Europe at the same time, uniting their voices to express themselves loudly and clearly - and JEF was shouting its message too!
The biggest actions were organized in Milan, Berlin and Prague, with MTV broadcasting the event live on April 30th at 15.30. In all three cities local JEF-sections were participating in the shouting, which is a great success, especially regarding the very spontaneous organization of this action. Thanks a lot to everyone of you!
JEF international seminar in Tarxien, Malta | 17-23 October 2010
“The ultimate solution for a better life: (im)migration?” is an international seminar organised by JEF-Europe and JEF-Malta in Tarxien, a small village in the south east of Malta from 17 until 23 October 2010.
When speaking about immigration it is important to make the distinction between legal and illegal immigrants. Despite the obvious difference in their legal status, immigrants in both categories often feel unwelcome and excluded from their host societies, which is closely linked to xenophobic attitudes widespread across Europe and openly manifested especially in recent years, but also the lack of adequate policies and assistance of governmental institutions in host countries.
