The XX European Congress of JEF took place in Florence between 30 October and 1 November 2009. The Congress is the supreme body of JEF and meets every two years. Around 120 participants (delegates elected by JEF national sections, as well as observers) met in Florence last weekend, debated on resolutions, discussed in political committees and workshops, elected a new Executive Bureau and also enjoyed the beautiful city of Florence.

The new EB members are: Philippe Adriaenssens (president), Pauline Gessant and Ingvil Louise Nürnberg (vice-presidents), Martin Fischer, Elisabeth Velle, Joan Manuel Lanfranco-Pari and Julia Mikic. We will upload their profiles soon to this website.

You can already find some pictures of the Congress online at the special JEF flickr set and a video on youtube. If you want to share your best pictures at the JEF flickr account too, please send them to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The adopted resolution will be uploaded in the next days, we will keep you updated on this matter.

Despite the obvious difference in their legal status, immigrants in both categories often feel unwelcome and excluded from their host societies, which is closely linked to xenophobic attitudes widespread across Europe and openly manifested especially in recent years, but also the lack of adequate policies and assistance of governmental institutions in host countries.
