Federalists will send Klaus 27 pens

1255106171_pens.jpgOn Thursday 15th October, The Young European Federalists will send President Klaus 27 pens simultaneously in the 27 Member States of the European Union, encouraging him to sign the Lisbon Treaty. 

 

With Poland having completed ratification on Saturday, the Czech Republic will be the only Member State left to put a signature on the Treaty. Klaus appears eager to block the democratization process of the EU which has not only been backed by his own parliament in the Czech Republic, but equally by the people of Europe, who in Ireland supported Lisbon overwhelmingly through a referendum.

 

Presidents of the 27 JEF sections, including the Czech Republic, will send Klaus a pen and an open letter, urging him to respect the will of the people and parliaments of Europe.  

 

Non Member States of the EU will also participate in the action to show their support for the Lisbon Treaty.

JEF international seminar in Tarxien, Malta | 17-23 October 2010

“The ultimate solution for a better life: (im)migration?” is an international seminar organised by JEF-Europe and JEF-Malta in Tarxien, a small village in the south east of Malta from 17 until 23 October 2010.

When speaking about immigration it is important to make the distinction between legal and illegal immigrants. Despite the obvious difference in their legal status, immigrants in both categories often feel unwelcome and excluded from their host societies, which is closely linked to xenophobic attitudes widespread across Europe and openly manifested especially in recent years, but also the lack of adequate policies and assistance of governmental institutions in host countries.
